Blackjack
Beat the dealer by getting closer to 21 without going over.
Card values
- Number cards are worth their face value. Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10. Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever helps your hand more.
- A starting hand of an Ace and a 10-value card is a Blackjack — an automatic win unless the dealer also has one (a push).
Your actions
- Hit — take another card.
- Stand — keep your current total and end your turn.
- Double Down — double your bet, take exactly one more card, then stand.
- Split — if your first two cards match, split them into two separate hands with equal bets.
The dealer
- The dealer plays last and must hit until reaching 17 or more. Deckhouse tables use the standard 'dealer stands on soft 17' rule by default.
- If you go over 21, you bust and lose immediately — even if the dealer later busts too.
Quick reference
- 21 on the first two cards = Blackjack, pays out immediately.
- A 'soft' hand counts an Ace as 11; a 'hard' hand can't (or the Ace is being counted as 1).
- Busting (over 21) is an instant loss regardless of the dealer's hand.
